If you hold multiple Texas Barbering and Cosmetology licenses and at least one has been held for less than 15 years, you must complete the 4 hour continuing education requirement.
Texas bases your CE requirement on the license that has been held for the shortest amount of time, so the higher requirement applies until all of your licenses have reached the 15 year mark.
Texas determines your continuing education requirement based on the newest eligible license you hold, not the oldest.
For example:
You'll need to complete the 4 hour continuing education course because one of your licenses has been held for less than 15 years.
Once all of your eligible licenses have been held for 15 years or longer, you'll qualify for the reduced 2 hour continuing education requirement.
You do not complete separate CE courses for each license.
One approved course can satisfy the continuing education requirements for multiple eligible licenses. However, the course you choose must meet the requirements for the license with the highest continuing education requirement.
Many professionals hold more than one Texas Barbering or Cosmetology license, and it's common to assume the oldest license determines your CE requirement.
At My CE Space, we want to help you select the correct course the first time so you can renew confidently without paying for the wrong course.
